Support MHCM through Hudson Valley Gives!

May 20, 2020 | 12:01 am - 11:59 pm

Your charitable contribution is especially important at this time, as it will help us put fresh, health food on the tables – and into the bellies – of our neighbors during the COVID-19 crisis.

With school closed, public transportation restricted, and many restaurants only offering limited service, COVID-19 has created a drastic reduction in the already limited access to food for many children, families, residents ,and seniors living in our local community.

As museums across the nation are shuttered in response to the COVID-19 public health crisis, MHCM stands alone in the field in that one of our core programs – our public farmers market – has been deemed an “essential business.”  In response to the crisis, MHCM and its market vendors rallied to open the Poughkeepsie Waterfront Market ONE MONTH EARLY so that we could connect our neighbors with fresh, healthy food during the coronavirus crisis.

A significant challenge exists, however, in that at this time the Museum – which financially supports the farmers market as part of its operational budget – remains closed and unable to generate revenue critical to supporting the Market.

Your gift during 2020 HVGives helps to ensure we can continue to operate and staff our farmers market and connect families with food – even in the face of an unknown length of closure of the Museum.

About Hudson Valley Gives

HVGives is celebrating its 5th annual day of giving in 2020!  It was created by the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan (CFOS) in partnership with the Mid Hudson Valley Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) for the purpose of advancing philanthropy throughout the Hudson Valley and celebrating the work of our region’s many nonprofit organizations.
