Design Challenge Workshop: Museum Underwater
November 11, 2019 | 11:00 am - 12:00 noon; and 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm
Did you know that the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) predicts that someday in the future buildings along the Hudson River – including our own Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum – could be affected by sea-level rise to the point they are almost be in the river?
Without global action on climate, by 2100 sea levels are likely to rise 4 to 5 feet which will would bring the Hudson River to our front door. Creative engineering and design solutions are needed for cities all over the world in order for human populations to be resilient in the face of climate change.
In this workshop, families will be introduced to the forecasted impacts of the global climate crisis and will be challenged to think about solutions and adaptations to sea level rise as they creatively build a model museum equipped to withstand the rising tides.

TWO SESSIONS: 11:00 am – noon and 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm
