Ways to Save

City of Poughkeepsie Residents (Children)

City of Poughkeepsie children (ages 12 and under) and up to two of their caregivers from the same household, enjoy FREE admission to the museum. Adult supervision is required. This opportunity is made possible by a generous grant from the City of Poughkeepsie, matched by a gift from Drs. Rao, and is available while grant funds last. (To receive free admission, please present ID or a household bill showing your City of Poughkeepsie address.)

Family Free Nights

Join us on the third Sunday of each month for Family Free Nights. The museum is open until 7:30 pm, and admission from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm is FREE. Please note:  this event is intended for families with children ages 0-12. Adult supervision is required at all times.

Museums for All

Through Museums for All, those receiving food assistance (SNAP benefits) can gain reduced admission, $3.00 per person, simply by presenting their SNAP EBT (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Electronic Benefit Transfer) card and picture ID. Payment must be made using cash or credit card. Up to four people per EBT card may be admitted at this reduced fee. This discount applies to regular museum admission only, and does not apply to special events or programs.

Blue Star Museum Program

(Normally Armed Forces Day – 3rd Saturday in May – through Labor Day. However, due to special grant support, we are offering it all year long!)

Free admission for active-duty military personnel and their families (including National Guard and Reserve). Valid military ID required. Blue Star Museums is a collaborative program of the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families and the U.S. Department of Defense. Reciprocal Admission Programs

MHDM is an active member of both the Association of Children’s Museums (ACM) and the Association of Science-Technology Centers (ASTC) and participates in their reciprocal admission programs. Admission discounts vary and some geographic exclusions apply.
